Let's start with the money. According to Wired, the Pixel 11 now starts at $899 — a $100 increase over its predecessor — and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold tops out at $1,900, also up $100. Google's consolation prize: every device in the lineup now ships with 256 GB of base storage, matching what Samsung and Apple have been doing. That's a real improvement, but it doesn't fully offset the sticker shock for buyers who were already stretching to get into the Pixel ecosystem.
The lineup itself spans four devices — the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold — plus the Pixel Watch 5 and a new Pixel Tag. The Tensor G6 Is Doing Real Work This Time

Google claims the new chip is 20 percent more power efficient, 25 percent faster for browsing, and 15 percent faster at loading apps, with a tensor processing unit that's 50 percent more powerful than its predecessor. Those are marketing numbers, and we won't know how they translate to daily use until reviewers spend real time with the phones. But the efficiency claim matters more than the speed claims for most people — a phone that runs cooler and lasts longer through a full day is worth more than one that opens Instagram slightly faster.
The camera improvements are also tied directly to the chip: Google says an improved imaging signal processor on the Tensor G6 is responsible for much of the camera upgrade, rather than just new sensors. That's a meaningful architectural choice. The Pixel 11's most striking color option — Hibiscus — is. Not because color is a technical achievement, but because it signals something about who Google thinks is buying this phone. The Pixel line has historically skewed toward a certain kind of understated tech person. Hibiscus is a bid for a broader audience, and it's a smarter move than it sounds.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold, at $1,900, remains a device for enthusiasts who've already decided they want a foldable and are choosing between Google and Samsung. My take on Samsung's foldable lineup from the last two weeks stands: the foldable category is maturing, but it's still a premium you pay for form factor, not function. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold's specs — 16 GB of RAM, storage up to 1 TB, an 8-inch internal display — are serious, as Wired's spec breakdown confirms. Whether the software experience justifies nearly two grand over a standard Pixel 11 Pro is a different question, and one that requires hands-on time I don't have yet.
What to Do Right Now
If you're an Android user on a two- or three-year-old phone and you've been waiting for a reason to upgrade, the Pixel 11 is the most credible reason Google has offered in a while. The Tensor G6's efficiency claims, the storage bump, and the camera architecture improvements all point in the right direction. The $899 starting price is real money, but it's competitive with what Samsung charges for comparable hardware.
If you're already on a Pixel 10, the calculus is harder. The efficiency and camera improvements are real, but they're incremental — not the kind of generational leap that makes a one-year upgrade feel obvious.
The Pixel Watch 5 and Pixel Tag will need their own evaluation once reviews land.
